Job Search: Library Director
The Paulding (Ohio) County Carnegie Library (PCCL) Board of Trustees seeks a competent, outgoing, visionary leader open to the creativity of a twenty-first-century library team.
Our library serves an agriculturally-based population of approximately 19,500. Dotted with rural farming communities and locally grown businesses, we reflect small-town flavor. Situated 33 miles northeast of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and 75 miles southwest of Toledo, Ohio, Paulding County provides an affordable opportunity to enjoy the benefits of small-town life while being within easy driving distance of amenities larger cities offer.
The first county library in the country funded by Andrew Carnegie, PCCL extends its services through the main library in Paulding and branch locations in the villages of Antwerp, Oakwood, and Payne.
Additionally, a bookmobile travels our county delivering services to smaller communities, schools, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and other pockets of population who may lack access to a brick and mortar location or are among the traditionally underserved.
While proud of our heritage and the services our library has traditionally provided, we are also mindful of the modern-day library user and strive to provide the services that meet his needs. In that way, we do our part to make Paulding County a better place to live.
Under the direction of the PCCL Board of Trustees, the director’s responsibilities will be in accord with the policies and regulations set forth by the Board. Responsibilities include management of library operations, personnel, and collection. Advocacy, marketing, and outreach as the face of the library are all key responsibilities. Policies and regulations may change as determined by the Board.
Preferred qualifications include a Master’s degree from an American Library Association accredited program, a minimum of five years public library experience with three years as a director, and the ability to obtain and retain Certified Public Librarian status with the Ohio Library Council (OLC).
Salary is commensurate with experience and includes a competitive benefits package.
Please e-mail all of the below to Sue Derck, firstname.lastname@example.org.
Qualified applicants should forward a descriptive cover letter outlining how they meet the qualifications described above, as well as the Ohio Library Council’s (OLC) list of “director competencies.”
Applicants should also forward a resume, a list of three references (with contact information), and copies of school transcripts.
A background check is required prior to employment.
Application deadline is February 15, 2019. ____________________________________________________________
